Michael H. Riney

Michael H. Riney represents corporations and entrepreneurs in high stakes litigation including unfair business practice, real estate and intellectual property disputes. He has litigated and tried cases, including class actions, in state and federal courts across the country.

Michael graduated from the Boalt Hall School of Law at U.C. Berkeley, where he served as an editor of the prestigious California Law Review and externed with the Honorable J. Clifford Wallace, former Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Michael began his legal career at the San Diego law firm of Seltzer Caplan Wilkins & McMahon (now Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek) in 1984, where he trained under the legendary San Diego trial lawyer Gerlad L. McMahon and rose to became a partner and member of the managing executive committee. Michael co-founded the litigation boutique Vantage Law Group in 1999, and ran that practice until joining Caldarelli Hejmanowski Page & Leer as “of counsel” in 2025. 

Michael has been recognized as a San Diego Super Lawyer every year from 2007 to the present. He is a Senior Master of the Louis Welsh Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
